From what I have been reading, the higher the f/stop the higher your chances are for the photo to be focused correctly. Unfortunately, the 24mm canon lens I was using introduced a large "hot spot" on the tree above the vehicle and so I decided to play with this one in black and white.
I will have to experiment further to see how problematic those hot spots will be. To minimize hotspots, you have to shoot with a bigger aperture, but the focusing will be harder since your depth of field will be smaller.
