'If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room'
-Confucius
Someone I look up to told me that and I immediately understood what he meant. Which is to say that at least for me, I strive to learn something new whenever possible and to be at least retrospective on my actions, as a way to keep accountability and growth constant and possible. Otherwise, I feel that in today's society, people will lack a true sense of purpose and ambition within themselves, which can lead to anxiety, depression and other self-destructive behaviors. I know I certainly did at some point, and still do, but not as before and in reflecting throughout the years, in a healthy way by reading more, talking more, etc., it has lead me to where I am today, where my confidence within myself, as a person and artist, have grown to tremendous heights (i still can be that passive asshole lol).
Either way with that said, I do what I do and lead by example (be the change you want to see in the world). I suppose, I just hate attention. Of course, I do not expect anyone to follow, but people, I have learned, have ways of influencing each other for better, or worst. It begins with action, and all actions have consequences, big or small. Consequences that, if we are lucky, are measurable through honest self-reflection, and self-love.
Behind the image:
I was able to work with Allie Summers this month and though I did shoot one roll of Kodak Ektar 100, I mainly shot with my Canon 80D and Nikon 90D. It went great and for lighting this time around I relied on my Canon Speedlite 430 EX II, which I mounted on to a stand and then used an umbrella to diffuse the lighting. Here I mainly used the overpowering effect of the strobe to light up the scene, though later in the set I metered for the room and then adjusted the lighting on the strobe accordingly to save battery.
I like the lighting and color. And the contrast I provided in Lightroom keeps it dramatic, especially with how the left leg is in dark shadows. Yes, no brush was used to blur or "airbrush" the skin. Sometimes I do, but in this case it was not necessary since the strobe did its job and kept the details "cleaner".
More from this set to follow!
