and another weekend gone. It is interesting how time decomposes our memories when we no longer have the strength to hold them and it can easily be distorted based on our emotions. Such a simple, but complicated mechanism is the human mind and it amuses me how limitless, and limited, our potential can be.
Well without further adieu, around this time, 11-years ago, I met some great folks from all over in Japan and am grateful for their friendship during a time when I kept mostly to myself and I was slowly opening up to new experiences. Growing up, I moved around a lot and it made it hard to maintain a close-knit of friends and this is something I was never able to grow out of until college and afterwards.
I do think about the friends I met in Japan at Kansai Gaidai and though I follow who I can on Instagram, we rarely interact. And that is fine with me (I am not much of a messenger and prefer to interact with people in person). I am just glad they are doing well and if anything may they continue to live long and prosper.
In the gallery below, are a small glimpse of the first few days spent at Kansai and the international building where we hung out in (nicknamed "the fishbowl") and some snapshots that I captured around Hirakatashi when some of us from the dorm house went to Kappa Sushi for the first time one evening.

The set of photos down below are what I managed to capture while on the way to Kyoto. The international program at Kansai Gaidai paired Japanese students with International students and together we traveled to Kyoto using the Keihan Train Line. It was a way to break the ice with the Japanese students at Kansai and it was also a way to help us get familiar with the train system in Japan. Though I regret that I never took the time to explore and venture out in Japan using the train on my own, I am glad for the experience I was able to have. At times I wished I did a year in Japan, but am grateful for the semester I experienced none-the-less. If anything, I hope to return one day and explore without the limitations that I imposed on myself back then.

This was quite the adventure and Kyoto is a beautiful city.
