to capture the lights
and cool my thoughts
from ending the day's gain

I started the night eating a burger at Shake Shack. Was really craving that Smoked Burger and had a Dogfish IPA. I got carded, like I always do (i'll be sad when it ends) and got my food fairly quick. It was a long day on campus and I had just finished developing some C-41 film in the AU Photo Lab with Adam, so needed to unwind.
I felt quite full and so felt disgusted with myself (lol) and therefore decided to walk the calories off. I had my Ciroflex F (a piece of Americana) and after I left Shake Shack, I walked down Connecticut Ave and began to photograph near DuPont Circle. I continued on towards Florida Ave and eventually made my way to Columbia Heights to walk towards the metro by 14th street.
It was a cool night, perfect for the stroll and bout.
I used my iPhone to meter the light. I generally use the phone to meter the highlights, which serves as my starting point, and then add 2-3 stops to capture the details in the shadows. Since my phone's battery was low, I counted the seconds myself.
Strange how alive the night felt, innocent and so bright with mystery. I remind myself to not be naive however, for that is how life goes.
