i learned
the 'war on drugs'
was a sham,
all americans do
their drugs
at the same
rate
shameful then
how disproportionally
at an alarming rate,
a common trait
found
amongst common men,
who are thrown
locked away
in disgrace,
silenced
with violences
for their non-violent ways

_____
ask yourself today,
how many people have we imprisoned and ruined with these lies
and plays?
i look out my window and wonder what tomorrow holds, for today has come and the day has remained
the same
until the levee breaks
and drowns away
the pain within;
the monsters we become then,
to right the wrongs that stand,
will be justified for the way things remain
Of course, society will always have their violent criminals, but the 'war on drugs' should have always been a mental health issues and not a criminal one. This war only benefits the capitalist who enjoy starting other "wars".
