now that summer's here
the humidity's clear,
but heavy,
with the fog of heat

Mamiyaflex Automat A || Olympus Zuiko F.C. 75mm f/3.5 • Ilford Delta 3200 (D76 1:4 pulled processed to 400)
_____
I had always wanted to shoot and capture fireflies in long exposures, but never found the time or patience as an undergraduate student, and the urge to do so never returned until this day, on the way home.
Since I was shooting the Ilford 3200 film at 400 and with no tripod on me, I settled on just shooting at 1/25 sec and wide open at f/3.5. I thought it would have more blurring since I have not perfected a steady hand at 1/60 sec and so am pleased on these results, even if my focus did not land where I wanted it. See, if you aim for good composition, you may find something satisfying either way.
I really like this image, though I wished I shot at f/4 or f/5.6 for a little bit more depth of field coverage. Nothing I can do about it now, but to look forward to the next opportunity. I already have an area near home that is filled with a lot of fireflies and so I am eager to see what I can attempt this coming weekend. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am shooting the final Ilford 3200 roll of film that I have left at 400 and will develop in either Tmax or Rodinal.
Can't wait!
